John Garth in the Oxford English Dictionary
It seems fitting that a book about J.R.R. Tolkien should be cited in the OED, on which he worked as an assistant lexicographer directly after the First World War. Tolkien and the Great War has been cited under two entries: redouble and sexcentenary. Meanwhile my paper Tolkien, Exeter College and the Great War has been cited under the highly appropriate dictionary-monger.
• I have also reviewed the OED 4.0 CD-ROM edition; and for I have interviewed John Simpson, OED chief editor from to 1993 to 2013, about the Dictionary's digital future.
